Emre Nadar is an associate professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Bilkent University. He received his B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering from Bilkent University, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Operations Management from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University.
Dr. Nadar's research focuses on problems in supply chain management, sustainable operations, and renewable energy and energy storage operations. The problems he studies involve complex dynamics or high uncertainty or both. He models many of these problems as Markov decision processes and establishes structural results that often give rise to new optimal policies and faster solution methods. In settings involving competition, he develops game-theoretic models and establishes equilibrium results with managerial insights.
His doctoral research on assemble-to-order production systems received the first-place award in the 2012 POMS College of Supply Chain Management Student Paper Competition. He was also a finalist in both the 2012 INFORMS George Nicholson Student Paper Competition and the 2012 INFORMS MSOM Society Student Paper Competition. His research has been published in leading journals such as Operations Research, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, International Journal of Production Economics, Omega: The International Journal of Management Science, and European Journal of Operational Research.
Dr. Nadar serves as a peer reviewer for numerous academic journals, including Operations Research, Management Science, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, INFORMS Journal on Computing, Omega: The International Journal of Management Science, and European Journal of Operational Research. He is also a recipient of the MSOM Meritorious Service Award.
