Short Bio

Emre Nadar is an assistant professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Bilkent University. He received his B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering from Bilkent University, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Operations Management from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University.

In his research, Dr. Nadar focuses on problems in the fields of supply chain management, sustainable operations, and renewable energy and energy storage operations. The problems he studies involve complex dynamics or high degrees of uncertainty or both. He models many of these problems as Markov decision processes and establishes structural results that often give rise to new optimal policies and faster solution methods. For the problems involving competition, he develops game theoretical models and establishes equilibrium results with managerial implications.

Dr. Nadar is the recipient of the first place award in the POMS College of Supply Chain Management 2012 Student Paper Competition. He is also the recipient of the finalist awards in the INFORMS George Nicholson 2012 Student Paper Competition and in the INFORMS MSOM Society 2012 Student Paper Competition. His work has appeared in Operations Research, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, International Journal of Production Economics, Omega: The International Journal of Management Science, and European Journal of Operational Research.

Dr. Nadar serves as a peer-reviewer in many academic journals, including Operations Research, Management Science, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, INFORMS Journal on Computing, Omega: The International Journal of Management Science, European Journal of Operational Research, Naval Research Logistics, and Queueing Systems.
